         ECTEL Board Meets in SVG

 

Castries, Saint Lucia. June 15, 2015- The Board of Directors of the Eastern Caribbean Telecommunications Authority (ECTEL) will meet in St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Tuesday, June 16 for their 71st meeting. 

Tuesday’s meeting will receive a mid-year report on ECTEL’s operations, as well as an update on the Electronic Communications (EC) Bill and Quality of Service Regulations and follow up on decisions of the last Council meeting, which was held last May, among other agenda items.

Persons interested in observing the proceedings of the meeting may contact the Office of the Managing Director of ECTEL, or the NTRC in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Tuesday’s Board Meeting will take place at the National Insurance Services Building in Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

ECTEL TURNS FIFTEEN-CELEBRATES WITH COMMITMENT TO BROAD BAND AND OPEN ACCESS

Castries, Saint Lucia. April 28, 2015- “Committed to Broadband and Open Access in a Digital World.” That’s the theme for the 15th Anniversary of the Eastern Caribbean Telecommunications Authority-ECTEL.

The highlight of the observances for ECTEL's 15th Anniversary will be a conference, to be held on May 11 – 12, 2015. It will take place at the Bay Gardens Hotel in Rodney Bay, Gros Islet, Saint Lucia and is being organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Energy, Science and Technology of Saint Lucia. Saint Lucia’s Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony will be the feature speaker when the Conference opens on May 11.

Topics to be addressed during the two-day event include Broadband Development in the Caribbean; Contributions and Obligations of Service Providers to Broadband and ICT policies and plans; Regional Collaboration in Broadband and Open Access; Broadband and Internet Neutrality and the vision for ICT in the OECS. OECS Ministers as well as other regional and international telecommunications delegates will attend. The Fifteenth Anniversary Conference also coincides with the ECTEL Council of Ministers Meeting, slated for May 13.


ECTEL was established on May 4, 2000 by Treaty signed in St. George’s, Grenada by the Governments of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, St Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia and St. Vincent and The Grenadines. ECTEL is the regulating body for telecommunications in its Member States and the world’s only multi-state telecommunications regulator.
